Marcy Hancock

In 1985, I followed my desire of becoming a professional hairstylist and have continued to live that dream for over thirty-five years. In 1986 my husband joined the Air Force and we were stationed at Eglin AFB, FL. I began working for Gayfer’s Salon in Fort Walton Beach. It was through an amazing group of stylists and continuing education that my dream grew exponentially. Upon participating in a lot of haircutting and hair color classes about personalizing every clients style I could not get enough advanced education. I auditioned and became a haircutting/styling educator with the Mercantile Corp Salons and began traveling to salons throughout the Southeast. The opportunity to share the hands-on techniques of haircut customization continued to advance my skillset. Within four years I attained the Master Artisan Award becoming one of the Top 100 stylists in a field of over four thousand. In 1992, the Air Force relocated my family to Sumter, SC. In 1995, I trained for and pursued becoming and educator/artist with Redken 5th Avenue. As a Redken Artist (RA) I have been trained and mentored by some of the most renown stylists in the world. Being an RA provided me the opportunity to travel and teach hair color and hair color science, work in model rooms for hair shows in Atlanta, CO, LA, New Orleans and more. During my tenure as an RA I was part of the team that developed the standards for the Redken Certified Hair Colorist credentials which is still being offered at the Redken Exchange in NYC. In 1996, with the overwhelming support of my husband, we opened two hair salons in Sumter, SC. Being a salon owner was amazing and I could not have done it without my husband. Our vision for our salons was one of fresh talent, great customer service and growth for all. In order to accomplish this vision we realized that we needed to recruit new stylists and enhance their skillset in order to better equip them for the industry. I’ve had the honor of training many stylists that are continuing to make a beautiful difference in salons and communities today. In 2004, the Air Force relocated us back to Eglin AFB, FL. Where I continued to work as a RA which helped in the transition out of salon ownership. Realizing my need to expand, learn and grow lead me to participate in education with many companies like Aveda, Surface, Arrojo, and many more. I continue to use Redken color as a Certified Redken Colorist but no longer work as a Redken Artist. Loving what I do has continued to cause me to reach for excellence. I offer complimentary consultations, listen to your input and respect your time. Contact me soon and let’s make the world more beautiful together.
